Brass music has played an important role in public gatherings and ceremonies for hundreds of years.  Military leaders have always been keenly aware of the strength and carrying power of brass and percussion instruments.  They have often chosen them to perform signals, alarms, and other outdoor ceremonial and concert music.  today, amidst the great monuments that celebrate our nation;s history, the five star brass continues this ancient tradition by providing the finest musical support for state arrivals, retirements, changes of command, awards ceremonies, patriotic programs, community engagement, morale wellness and readiness shows, and educational concerts.

the five star brass features talented musicians with extensive experience in civilian and military bands and orchestras throughout the united states and abroad.  The five star brass is a part of the army national guard and attached to the 144th army band, which has proudly represented the Illinois national guard for more than 50 years.  it is our pleasure to serve this great nation.
